We have to tip our proverbial hats to Double Denim this year; a label that has bestowed continually mind-blowing new artists on us in 2012. From Body Language to Zulu Winter, to Christian Aids/Stay + each of their releases this year received a vote for this list from our presenters and producers.
It’s their September release, Outfit, however that finds itself in the final 12. Two Islands, from their AA side release is a head-nod inducing trip through swirling guitar and rhythmic, tribal percussion. It all meets in a chorus that is all kinds of unique and awesome. It is inventive art pop as bold as the likes of Vampire Weekend.
Currently in the studio and with tour plans in February, we’re anticipating something big from the Liverpudlians. With any justice they’ll get the exposure they deserve.
