If you weren’t at February’s Amazing Live then you missed this…

Amazing Live got the year off and running with another brilliant quartet of live performances at the Bull & Gate.

Matthew Kilford at Amazing Live

Travelling over from Swindon to open proceedings was long-established Amazing Radio favourite Matthew Kilford. Having braved the snow between his native Wiltshire and an increasingly blizzard-ridden London, he set about wowing the crowd with a six-song set. As one-man-shows go, you’d be hard pressed to find one as engaging, moving and so full of charm.

Peter and Kerry at Amazing Live

The evening continued with London duo Peter & Kerry, who consolidated their live reputation with note-perfect renditions of much of the stuff we fell in love with when we first heard their Clothes, Friend, Photos EP. Despite Kerry letting slip that they’d actually forgotten to bring a whole host of instruments with them to the gig, they had the Bull & Gate in giddy raptures.

BUIL_DINGS at Amazing Live

After something of a stripped-down beginning, the evening took on a louder turn with the arrival of BUIL_DINGS onstage. The lads put in a great shift in the ‘main support’ slot, showing exactly why they’ve been drawing a lot of industry buzz since the turn of the year. As expected, Eyes On Sunrise provoked the biggest cheer during their set, but this show was proof that there’s plenty more in their musical armoury.

Fractures at Amazing Live

Our February headliners Fractures rounded things off in noisy, ebullient fashion. Distiller Records’ recent signees proved to be compelling showmen, rattling through an infectious series of ‘rock-hits-in-waiting’ to a decent-sized crowd. Even though comparisons to Suede and Tribes have been thrown their way by various musical outlets, the Amazing Live show saw Fractures exhibit more than enough originality and bounce to suggest that they’ll be with us for a while.
