Big thanks to Amazing Radio listener Sarah Southern, who was on the plinth in Trafalgar Square this morning at 0600 as one of Anthony Gormley’s ‘One and Other’ statues … and dedicated her spot to Amazing Radio. You can see what she got up to here.
Thanks also to Pure for loaning one of their very tasty Evo radios for this impromptu open-air concert. It looks very cool in the video. And, of course, since Amazing only plays new music, there was no need for a PRS licence for this rather unusual public performance.

Playlist
I love to give my input about what tunes I like using my playlist, but as I mentioned a while ago there doesn’t seem any feedback letting me know that you have looked at my choices, so why should I continue if I dont know if it has any impact on the radio playlist? Jay http://www.ukjay.co.uk
Hi James, As I explained in a previous email to you, we’re building something which will allow individal playlists to be included in the output – but it’s not finished yet. I’ve wanted to have this since before we started, but we’re currently prioritising some other features. Happily, we have more staff starting later this month, which will accelerate the doing of everything. Secondly, just as my taste on music doesn’t decide anything, nor does any other one individual’s. We look at your choices and selections alongside everyone else’s, then assemble the playlist (and the separate Audition playlist) on the basis of an aggregation of all the feedback. This might sometimes mean it appears as if your suggestions are ignored, because you’re the only one making them. The alternative would be to skew the output unrepresentatively. Or, it might mean it takes time for a choice to garner enough support from others to make it onto the playlist, it’s merely a question of patience. But nothing is ever ignored. Honest! Hope this clarifies. ATB, PC

Hi Amazing Radio
I think it’s a great idea to have individual playlists on the radio. When can I do this? Where do I do it (sorry, me being dumb I can’t see anywhere I can do this).
Thanks a lot

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thank you for bringing this great station to the national airwaves. I’ve discovered so much new great music! I wondered if you had any more news about having djs on air to introduce songs soon or whether you’re definitely going to be on for longer than your trial because I would miss you! Thanks, Nick
Many thanks for the comment Nick, we really appreciate it. We’re still looking for DJs; and we’re hoping/expecting to keep going after the end of the pilot. If you know any DJs, ask them to get in touch at info@amazingradio.co.uk. Keep listening! ATB, Paul

Hi – My last post may have not come across the way it was intended (I blame my age) I was just trying to say that I do miss any posts from Paul Campbell letting us know the amazing things that are happening, and shaking up the music world at last, and how I am totally blown away! with the exciting tunes/music that I hear on my favourite amazing radio station!

Interested in your comment re PRS and new music – plus acomment in an older post about an aborted meeting with PRS.
I presume that it is not the “new-ness” that is the key to not paying PRS but is the artist not being registered with PRS etc.
I’ve not checked the upload process – but do you make it a condition that no fees will be paid for plays? (I seem to remember that the Channel4 New Music show hosted by Tom Ravenscroft might have had such a clause)
an Internet-only station that I am involved with is registered with the authorities. Much of what we play is by artists not on their books which means that we are able to keep within the Small Webcaster limits – which does keep the (self-funded) costs down.
