Down (not Down)

I had a couple of emails late on Monday from people who said they couldn’t get onto amazingtunes.com and thought it was broken, due to too much traffic.   This is a great way to give me a heart attack – especially when I looked online at home and couldn’t see it either.   We’d had no error messages saying it was down, it’s always been incredibly reliable, so it was pretty weird … especially when I checked on my  iPhone and it was there after all; and resident tech wizard Jon Nairn could see it too, at his place, working normally.

Turns out to be some kind of ISP problem and the site was never actually down.  A couple of hours later I could see it too.  Panic over. But very sorry if you had trouble.

What a stir you created in our household tonight!

I have a young daughter who suffers from ME/CFS and an important part of her treatment programme is meditation style relaxation, for which we have found birdsong very helpful.

Hadn’t used the Birdsong channel for a while but bedtime was proving troublesome so I changed channels on the DAB radio.

What’s this?! No Birdsong channel?! Cue one very distraught daughter!

Meanwhile Dad has retreated clutching the now “useless” (to daughter) radio, but Dad is intrigued.

One of the first songs I heard was “Smoking” by Alex Highton – and I was hooked. I have been sat listening now for the rest of the evening – it is all so fresh and exciting – and yes, of course, amazing!

Despite being a big DAB fan for a few years I have never really grown into any of the music stations – nearly all 5Live and BBC7 – things will change now!

I cannot remember an evening that I have enjoyed more listening to music. At the other end of the scale, the women in my household’s station of choice is Heart – how bad is that?! I could never understand anyone being happy listening to a station that seems to have a playlist of 10 songs – and that list of 10 appears to have stayed the same for many a year.

This stuff on Amazing is just so brilliant to listen to!

I have signed up to the website and look forward to many more hours of enjoyment as your station evolves. It will be very interesting to see how it affects the music industry – seems to me it’s just the kick up the backside needed – all those people whinging about file sharing etc. etc.

And do you know what – I might even have ago at some of that DJing!

So in conclusion, one unhappy daughter – but tough, I’ll have to open the window wider for the birdsong now because Dad’s more than happy!

    Thanks again, xyster.

Thanks so much for the email. Really glad you like it. As you know, I’ve contacted you privately to try to win your daughter over! PC
