Amazing Breakfast

The end to another week is always bittersweet. We’re sad to say goodbye to Up and Down by Chad Valley as our Track of the Week and just as sad to bid farewell to Plant Plants as out artist of the week, but we’ve got a bit of Facebook Friday action for you – we’re talking romance and proposals, in honour of Team Amazing Breakfast’s favourite associate member, Charlie Ashcroft popping the question to his lovely lady, we thought we’d get a few of your awesome proposal stories. If that’s not enough to wash away those blues, we’ve also got an interview with Slow Club! Best Friday ever?

In addition to another great tune from Plant Plants and another opportunity to shake your booty to Up and Down by Chad Valley, we’re also chatting to another excellent comedian – this week we’re speaking to the very charming Matt Green. Matt also introduced Team Amazing Breakfast to some awesome new music in the form of Laish what a great guy! You can tell him how awesome you think he is on Twitter.

Every Wednesday we speak to our Artist of the Week, and today it’s the turn of Howie from the very awesome Plant Plants – he gave us all the details on how they’re working with one of the guys from Simian Mobile Disco and life in the Plant Plants garden. We’ve also got another spin of Up and Down our Track of the Week from Chad Valley!

Another day, another awesome musical guest! As well as more great tunes from Chad Valley, as well as more from Plant Plants, and as well as the usual Twitter Tuesday shenanigans, we’ve got great company throughout the week this week on Amazing Breakfast – today is the turn of the wonderful Peggy Sue – formerly Peggy Sue and the Pirates, and we thought asking them the same mundane questions about their new album as everyone else…but there’s no fun in that, is there? Matt spoke to us all about how the band started out, plans for the future, and the emotional trauma of accidently chucking a tenner out in the bin. This week we’re putting the lovely Spokes on the podium as our Artist of the Week and have an awesome new Track of the Week from Bella Union’s Treefight For Sunlight – we’re a lot in love with their song Time Stretcher and suspect you will be too!

It’s the final show of the week, and that means the final play for our awesome Track of the Week by Stepdad and Beautiful One – the final track from Beat Radio which Brian mentioned to us in Wednesday’s interview! This and a bit of Facebook Friday action should set you up right for the weekend. This week we’re thinking about bands. Everyone’s had a little fantasy of being in a band, deep down. Thursdays are funny, and this week we had a lovely visit from writer, presenter, comedian and general polymath, Danny Wallace. DANNY WALLACE! He gave us the skinny on his new book More Awkward Situations For Men and…well, we could say more, but that would be spoiling it. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got another track from Artist of the Week Beat Radio and another play of My Leather, My Fur, My Nails by Stepdad as well. You don’t have to be Danny Wallace to say YES to that!

We’ve got another play of our fantastic Track of the Week from Stepdad and we’re also speaking to the exceptionally charming Brian, mastermind of our marvellous Artist of the Week Beat Radio. Brian gave us a potted history of the band, what they’re up to at the moment, the story behind their brilliant track Everything Follows and we also couldn’t resist asking him what it was like being on the New York Scene, of course!

Ah, the internet. Full of great, informative things, full of pretty horrific things, full of cat pictures, and full of terrifically random blogs, tumblrs, and websites, devoted to incredibly specific and incredibly silly things. Maybe you’ve seen Kim Jong Il Looking At Things? or perhaps Glum Councillors? Though Team Amazing Breakfast aren’t entirely sure what possesses people to start them, we’re glad they exist. So, for Twitter Tuesday we want to know which brilliantly random blogs you’ve come across! Tweet us your favourites. A bit of transatlantic awesomeness with your cornflakes? Oh, go on then, just a sprinkle, though. It may have been a week since American Independence Day, but we seem to still be just a bit infatuated with all things American. Both our new Artist of the Week and our Track of the Week have come to us from across the pond, and we’ve got no complaints!

Our Track of the Week is some synthy-pop sunshine music from Stepdad with their killer tune My Leather, My Fur, My Nails and Artist of the Week is some laidback brilliance from Beat Radio – you might have heard us playing Everything Follows – tune in for more!

Georgie is away, and the legend that is Charlie Ashcroft is othewise engaged, Colin and Matt are still wreaking havoc across the afternoon…who ya gonna call? It’s time to go with Plan D. Or Plan DC, as it’s actually known. Regular listeners may know DC, or Producer Dani as the silent partner of Team Amazing Breakfast, well, it’s silence no more. With the final track from Artist of the Week Among Brothers another spin of Charlie’s favourites the Kill Van Kulls and maybe a few choices of her own. For one day only, DC takes control. Be nice though, it’s her birthday.

Georgie’s still croaky, so Charlie’s still classy behind the wheel of the Amazing Breakfast car, steering it straight towards the chequered flag of awesome radio. We’ve got more from Among Brothers and another spin of our Track of the Week from the Kill Van Kulls and keeping in the grand Amazing Breakfast tradition of having wonderful comedians on the show, we drafted in Suzy Bennett to keep Charlie company. Suzy told us all about coming to London from Devon, and about her plans for Edinburgh this year. Suzy also is doing some wonderful charitable work with Race For Life – read all about it over here on her blog, and give her a digital wave on Twitter to tell her how brilliant she is.

Even though Georgie is away, Charlie is on hand to take the baton and run with it for another day, and keep a steady pace with the usual Amazing Breakfast shenanigans. We’ve got another spin of Lost and Found by The Kill Van Kulls for you, and on Wednesdays we like to catch up with our Artist of the Week – today is no exception! We grabbed a few words with Alex from the utterly brilliant Among Brothers. You may have heard My Head Is A Vessel on Amazing Radio before, but either way, they’re definitely Your New Favourite Band!

While Georgie is huddled under a duvet, we’ve still got Charlie Ashcroft on board to steer the Good Ship Amazing Breakfast in her absence! In addition to another spin of the excellent Lost and Found by the Kill Van Kulls and more from Artist of the Week Among Brothers, as we’re now in prime holiday season, we’re going to be giving out some good old fashioned travel advice, including the importance of manners, and essential items no traveller should leave at home. Now where did we leave the barometer…?

Wow, Georgie’s sounding a bit gruff this morning…suspiciously like…Charlie Ashcroft, actually. Well, Georgie IS sounding a bit gruff – so she’s been put on strict orders by Producer Dani not to talk for the next week! As Charlie did such an exceptional job previously he’s back in the saddle, taking the reins, and ready to make the Breakfast Pony trot on for another day. We’ve got a new Artist of the Week in the form of Among Brothers whose brilliant song My Head Is A Vessel has causing a stir here on Amazing Radio, and our new Track of the Week is a triumphant return for the excellent Kill Van Kulls. We’ve played and loved Fools Wish – today we introduce Lost and Found!

To wrap up this week’s festivities, we’re polishing off the last of the Lemonade which BRAIDS thoughtfully brought over, and we’re all done with our exercise for the week with final play of a track from Channel Swimmer’s back catalogue, and we thought we’d bring the giggles to this morning for Facebook Friday by talking about some of the comedy signs you’ve seen on your travels. Sometimes from inspirational messages, punctuation failures, or, more often than not, language barriers – they just never fail to raise a chuckle. The wonderfully affable Andrew Watts is our comedic guest for this week, he’s been down on his luck, (but of course, has exploited it to its fullest comedy potential) but managed to keep a good old fashioned stiff upper lip. In addition to the usual array of fantastic music, we’ve got another spin of our awesome Track of the Week by BRAIDS and another fantastic tune from Artist of the Week Channel Swimmer.

To make Wednesday a little easier to bear, we’ve got another play of the utterly brilliant Lemonade by BRAIDS and a lovely interview with the excellent Mat Mayes – AKA our Artist of the Week Channel Swimmer. Mat spoke to us all about the music of Channel Swimmer, doing Awesome Remixes of other bands we love like Polarsets and, of course, swimming the channel.

It’s that time of year again. Summer fast approaching, kids loitering with intent on street corners after school as the teachers have stopped bothering with pesky things like homework, not when they’re trying to organise the inevitable chaos that is….the end of year play. We’ve all been there. We’ve worn the tights and the badly constructed papier mache. Learned the lines, sung the songs, and generally given our parents a wealth of blackmail material to wheel out in front of future partners forever. We love nothing more than some chilled electronic beats on a Monday morning. Thank goodness we’ve got a new Artist of the Week in the shape of Channel Swimmer to make that wish come true. Rachel told us all about her time studying and working as a musician, which has helped create her unique brand of musical comedy. Rachel will also be introducing us to the 50’s influenced sounds of amazingtunes.com artist Jeanie Barton. There’s plenty chance to see Rachel’s show, catch her next on the 2nd of June at 8pm at The Victoria in Mile End. Team Amazing Breakfast plans to be there!

Georgie is again joined by our Artist of the Week William Fitzsimmons, who is midway through his US tour, he’ll be talking about growing up in Pittsburgh, his experiences of recording the album ‘Gold in The Shadow,’ and working with Julia Stone on the track Let You Break. As well as this you’ll also get another chance to hear our awesome Track of the Week Young Silence from Echo Lake.

In honour of our Artist of the Week, William Fitzsimmons, we have dedicated Twitter Tuesday to your bearded heroes! So, whether it be Dave Grohl or ZZ Top Tweet us with your hairy hero for Georgie to deliberate over. We’ll also be having a cheeky chat to William Fitzsimmons about his own impressive facial hair.

A brand new week brings us a brand new Artist of the Week in the form of singer-songwriter William Fitzsimmons. We’ll be catching up with the Pittsburgh born artist and hearing one of his spellbinding tracks. We’ve also got a brand new Track of the Week from Echo Lake – the awesome Young Silence, which you can hear all week.

It’s Friday, which means Facebook Friday and this week we’re going all cultural and talking about Art. Seeing as were such big music nerds, it’s gotta be album artwork though, obviously! Ben told us all about his comedy, deliberately avoiding inclusion for awards at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, and introduces us to the delights of DJ Ned! Ben’s Edinburgh Fringe show is called Discover Ben Target and you can catch him from 17th – 27th August at 1:45PM in Bannerman’s bar – so get yourself down for exactly 39 minutes of award-winning comedy! Team Amazing Breakfast are booking our tickets already…

We spoke to Jo Dudderidge, singer of our Artist of the Week the Travelling Band all about the band’s new single Fairweather Friends, the forthcoming album, curating an album for the charity MAK which features the likes of Elbow and Doves, as well as Amazing artists like Jim Noir and Silverclub and their touring plans for the summer. Busy times in Camp Travelling Band!

In addition to another play of our awesome Track of the Week by the Skeleton Dead and more from the Travelling Band it is, of course, Twitter Tuesday! With the impending arrival of Geordie Shore to our TV screens, and Georgie’s sensational ability to imitate accents, we thought we’d give her a little challenge! We loved having The Travelling Band as our Track of the Week so much, we had to invite them back as our Artist of the Week! It was such a joy to play Sundial every day, and as they’ve got an awesome new single called Fairweather Friends on the way, we couldn’t resist. We’ve also got a brand new Track of the Week from The Skeleton Dead – the awesome Taken By The Tid was recently featured on Audition with Charlie Ashcroft and we fell in love with it!

Though holidaying has a lot of good sides, it can also turn sour pretty easily. This week’s Facebook Friday is all about travel nightmares. Have you ever had your luggage end up on the other side of the world? Spent 12 hours stranded in Alaska? Been lost in Peru with only a herd of goats as a tour guide? Our awesome Artist of the Week this is, of course, electropop duo Long Lost Sun, and we caught up with both Sarah and Jethro from the band and chatted all about how they came to make music together, the tailoring of the songs from Sarah’s original singer-songwriter arrangements to the synth collages they’ve become, and gearing up to performing live. Last we heard they were still looking for a pianist, so hopefully they find one soon and can treat us to the Long Lost Sun live extravaganza.

Though you must all be familiar with the adventures of Rosie Rogers, not least when she was immortalised in song by Abandoman, you might not be familiar with her new lil’ sis Gracie! There she is in the picture, all tuckered out after a hard day playing. Awwww. TeamBrekky used this as an excuse to ask all of you on this, Facebook Friday to send us all of your adorable pet pictures and sweet stories about your critters! It’s a new week, so that means everything is new with us too – a brand new Track of the Week courtesy of Sheffield’s fantastic Standard Fare – they’ve been winning much deserved accolades and praise from here, there, everywhere, and when Team Brekky heard ‘Philadelphia‘ we just had to join in, and pick it as our Track of the Week. We’ve also got a new Artist of the Week, well, artists – we’ll start with the Voyeurist, but we’ve included the different, but equally excellent GLDGRVZ into the mix – who are, in fact, Sarah and Sophie from the band’s side project. Two for the price of one!

Happy New Year from Amazing Breakfast! We were big fans of 2010, and 2011 is shaping up to be pretty awesome too, as we’re kicking off the new year with some riffs courtesy of Scottish band thisfamiliarsmile who are our brand new artist of the week. We’ve also got a stunning new track of the week, which comes from the lovely lady in the picture, who goes under the name Daughter.
